We’re Going to Austin, Texas

We plan on leaving around the first of October, and we’re not really sure how long we’ll be gone.  At least a month, if the winds blow in our favor.  We’ll be visiting our dear friends in Austin, Texas.  Actually, it’s our dear friends, their kids, and grandkids.

They just relocated from Huntington Beach to the Austin area, following their offspring because they are that important.  As a woman that doesn’t separate well from her kids, I get it.  I completely understand.  And if my kids had their own families?  Geez.  It would only be a few blinks to an easy decision.

If you’ve raised your family in any beach community in Southern California, you know the draw this part of the world has on a person.  Most everything within less than an hour’s drive.  From standing on the fine sands of a Pacific coast beach, to picking fresh fruit & relaxing in the backyards of the inland valleys, to the panoramic hikes, conifers, and quaint old western towns of the mountains, to the coarse sands of the arid, cactus-laden high and low deserts.  Pretty cool part of the country, but it really has a way of separating you from your hard earned everything.

IMHO, the best part about living in any beach community in Southern California is the time spent raising a family here. And this is why, simply put, our dear friends decided that the reasons for leaving the perks of Huntington Beach at this point in their lives far outweighed the reasons they’d stay.  And now they’ve left California, and we miss them very much. The whole bunch of ’em.  We need to see them again, and soon.

And so, off we go!  See ya later San Diego.  Hello Austin, Texas!
