The Granary Restaurant at The Pearl, San Antonio, Texas

We arrived at The Pearl in time for lunch, and chose The Granary mostly because it was right where we parked.  I did a little homework, and we wouldn’t have gone wrong most any place we chose.  The Granary has a casual vibe, but it’s pricey.  We were shocked to pay over $50 for a lunch of two plates and two beers.  That’s when we noticed most of the diners here were of the business-lunch crowd.  Makes sense.

We often each get something different, then share the bounty.  Since this place specialized in barbecue, we decided on the daily special for one, and a two-meat combo for the other.  The pulled pork was too salty for our taste, the brisket was moist and tender, but we’ve had better flavor, the coleslaw was just fair, but the real stars of the show were the pastrami-style beef rib and barbecue beans with burnt ends.

Brisket and pulled pork. Small portions for the $$$, if you ask me.

Pastrami-style beef rib and barbecue beans with burnt ends were on point. The home made bread was good, too.

Nice place, but we probably will try something different next time.

Off to explore The Pearl!
